Review: Be Still My Heart (Four Kings Security #2) » by Charlie Cochet

→ 4 ⭐️ ←

Synopsis:

Former Special Forces medical sergeant Russell “Red” McKinley knows a thing or two about wounds, like the fact some can take a lifetime to heal, if they heal at all. The scars Red carries run deep, and living with PTSD often means battling the memories of his past. Injuries he received while working an executive protection case with fellow Kings and co-owners of Four Kings Security, have once again forced past heartaches to the surface, but Red is determined not to let it derail his blossoming romance with sweet and sexy fashion photographer Lazarus Galanos.

Laz can’t deny there’s something special developing between him and Red, but Laz has wounds of his own. He’s hesitant to jump into a new relationship after his recent explosive breakup. Experience has taught Laz to doubt his judgement when it comes to men. Guys who seem too good to be true, usually are, and no one appears more perfect than Red.
When an attempt is made on Laz’s life, Red is determined to keep him safe. Laz may not be a client, and Red is still off duty, but Laz is one of their own, and nothing means more to the Kings than family. While an investigation is underway, Red and Laz are growing closer, but can they find a way to help each other heal and take a chance on love, or will their fears and insecurities cost them more than their future together?

My Review:

Can I just say that I’m happy because I AM NOT LATE FOR THIS REVIEW! I completed this book just yesterday night! 🎉

Anyway! I read the book one of this serie one year ago. And I loved it soooo much. Charlie Cochet is one of my favourite writer. I love her worlds. I love her mens. I love her writing. So, even though it took me a year to read the book 2 of « Four Kings Security » I’m happy to be back with the Kings. I love them with all my heart. ♥️😍

But I’m a little sad to say that I unfortunately didn’t like it as much as the first one. 😔 But just a little bit.

What did I like?

→ Ace. Oh, how I missed Ace. He’s my sunshine. I love him, and I’m so happy to see him again! ☀️
→ Nash and Bibi. Ooooh, I want a relationship like theirs. I wanted to see more of them. 💫 (Also, I want to eat a meal there. 🥰🥓)
→ Mason and Lucky. The tension between these two is I.N.T.E.N.S.E 😳

→ Colton. Ha. Colton is hilarious. Ace is just so whipped for him and I’m happy to see them so happy together! ♥️
→ Red & Laz I don’t think I can’t just separate the two of them. I loved them. Red is just hot. But a big teddy bear inside. And I love my Alpha men so soft! He has suffered so much, but can give so much. I love him, and it’s bittersweet because I want to take all his fears and problem away from him, but I can’t. (Laz can though. 🤐) But he’s so strong and brave, and he has a family who loves him so very much. 🧸 And Laz… Laz baby. I just want to protect him. Hide him from the world. He’s just so strong He was hurt so much before and I think he needed someone like Red to keep him safe and just to start to live again. To smile and laugh again. They’re just perfect for each other.
→ Fitz. I want more of him. He’s just so precious! ♥️

→ The Kings. I loved see them together.
→ The humor et banter. O.M.G 😳 I love the banter between the Kings. (and Colton, Laz and everyone) I laughed soooo much!

What I didn’t like?

→ So don’t kill me but… Instalove (…or not because they’re met months ago but you know.) All happens too fast. I mean yeah, Laz was in danger. I understand. But no. Just no. It didn’t bother me more than that, but I had to take a break once in a while because everything was going so fast. 🤦🏻‍♀️
→ We didn’t see everyone as much as I would liked. The story was focused on Laz and Red and that’s it. I would have liked to see the others much more often. (But yeah, I liked the story all the same. Just… yeah.)

But, even so I loved the book. I can’t give it 5 ⭐️ because of the points above. I can’t wait to read the book 3. I want the story of Lucky and Mason so much omg. (And King. Because I started to read this serie for King’s book. 🤐) But Mason and Lucky will be hot, I just know it. 🍀
